Established in 2017 by veteran musicians Pete and Panu, Darkness Is My Canvas redefines classic melodic rock for the modern era. The band blends the storytelling of classic rock with a contemporary pulse, creating an unapologetically authentic sound that shuns modern mechanical perfection.
The band burst onto the scene in early 2022 with three video singles on YouTube, followed by their Monsters EP. The standout track ”Bleed”—a poignant reflection on self-harm—quickly crossed 50,000 streams. A subsequent 30-date tour through Southern Finland solidified their live reputation, drawing sonic comparisons to bands like Ghost and My Chemical Romance.
Their momentum continued with ”Fade Into The White Noise” (50,000+ streams) and a powerful cover of Bring Me The Horizon’s ”Drown”, which amassed over 170,000 streams. Exploring deeper musical territories, they released ”Inverted”, a nod to 70s prog rock echoing legends like Uriah Heep and Santana.
In October 2023, the band released their White Noise EP. Featuring hard-hitting tracks like ”Tilted Vision” alongside ”The Game” and ”Salvation (Slava Ukraini)”, the EP surpassed 500,000 streams and propelled the band to the #1 spot on Finland’s Indie chart for two consecutive weeks.
In 2024, Darkness Is My Canvas signed with Rockshots Records to release their debut full-length album. Following a successful promotional campaign that concluded at the beginning of this year, the band is now geared up for new horizons. Driven by textured, melodic instrumentation and versatile vocals that seamlessly shift from clean melodies to gritty rock edge, Darkness Is My Canvas continues to leave an indelible mark on modern rock.
